Fifth Water Hot Springs - Three Forks Campground Trip October 2022 We needed to take a quick break last October so we decided to head on down to Spanish Fork Canyon where you will find the amazing falls called Fifth Water Hot Springs. We camped at Three Forks, which was an awesome little campsite that was free! I would recommend showing up early if you want to find a primo spot. Some spots there are closer to others, some are down by the river, and others head up a little way in the mountains.
My wife Chelsey is a real trooper. You would think growing up with a father that is an avid outdoor hunter and fisherman she would have done it all the time.. but you would be thinking wrong. But she hangs in there and doesn't complain and is an all-around sport with it all.
We set up the tent after waiting for one of the best spots to open up. It gets dark around 6 pm so we had to get a fire going quickly to keep the kids warm.
We ended up all sleeping in our little six-person tent which would normally be plenty of space if it were not for the queen size blowup bed for the girls. I slept next to it on the floor. In the morning, after freezing all night I asked the girls how they all slept and they complained of being too hot, and that the bed was just too soft. I guess there is always room for improvement with our camping setup.
In the morning we started on our little hiking adventure, we did not realize how busy it gets so I had to drop the girls off and then went back and parked at our campsite. I was in great shape at the time and did the run with little effort. Then the fun started with the hike our little Maddie was only six at the time, her big sister Emma 8 so I was a bit concerned we would have to carry them. But they did great, only on the way back around mile 4 or 5 Maddie's little legs started to give out on her. We talked and had all types of great little kids convos on the way up, keeping our eyes peeled for the magical Fairy island in the river.
I was shocked at how many people were there at the main pools so we decided to hike down a bit lower and found a great little spot that was still very warm. The pools are practically boiling at the top of them. We had packed a lunch and the kids had a blast tooling around and soaking it all in.
Overall what great memories with the wife and kids, and practically cost us nothing driving in our old Suburban into the woods.
